NEC India introduces NeoFace® Reveal public safety solution in India
Solution was showcased at Secure Cities 2014 event in New Delhi
New Delhi, 11 September 2014 – NEC India, a leading info communications technology provider, introduced NEC’s NeoFace® Reveal solution in India for the first time as part of its public safety offerings. The solution was showcased at the annual Secure Cities 2014, held at hotel Le Meridien in New Delhi, where NEC India was a sponsor at the event.
Organized by Security Watch India, the event addressed critical infrastructure security and cybersecurity issues faced by government and private sectors today.
NeoFace® Reveal is a software solution for forensic investigation and captures facial images of suspects from photographs and crime scenes, which are enhanced and encoded for matching against a mugshot repository. Other solutions that were showcased at the event include city surveillance, behavior detection and attendance management solutions.
NEC’s facial recognition technology relies on a modified Generalised Learning Vector Quantization (GLVQ) algorithm which enables high speed and high accuracy facial detection and facial features extraction. The technology has been deployed worldwide for security purposes, such as for CCTV surveillance, border control, law enforcement, immigration as well as others.
“We at NEC India are excited to introduce our innovative facial recognition technologies in India that can help strengthen homeland security measures in the country. NEC’s NeoFace® Reveal solution has a strong global track record in successfully assisting security and government agencies in their law enforcement efforts against crime. Through our sophisticated technologies that can provide the needed intelligence to counter security threats, we look forward to partnering with agencies to ensure the safety of the public in India,” said Andrew Chi, Head, Public Safety, NEC India.
NEC’s face recognition technology has achieved the highest performance evaluation in the recent Face Recognition Vendor Test (FRVT) 2014 performed by the U.S National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST)*. Test results revealed NEC’s search accuracy as well as face recognition algorithms’ speed for image search outperformed competitors significantly. The NIST report provides an industry benchmark for assessing how accurate a face recognition software solution is in one-to-many searches in various circumstances.
